OPI Vintage Minnie Minis Nail Polish Set

Look what they had at the employee store! Yay! I love the slight shimmer in The Color of Minnie, and the warm pink called If You Moust You Moust, the deep Magenta Shimmer in I'm All Ears.

And since these are so very tiny they will be perfect to take on summer trips to do touch-ups, or even to do a whole new manicure!

The packaging is very cute!

Don't you want to buy yourself a set?

Love,

If you love terrible British accents you will enjoy this video.  This Butter London is so pretty and subtle, and so appropriate for this London-focused summer. It's a chrome with lavender tones, so surprising, yet royally elegant.

Julep Maven May 2012 American Beauty

May's was my second Julep Maven shipment, and I have to say, I like each one of these more and more.  This one included a cute bag, and Kylie, a magnetic polish.  Ellie is the other polish, which is a very nice sheer pink iridescent shade that I look forward to using as a top coat. The magnet works well, although it took me one fail on my thumb to figure out how to do it. My best tip is to look at your nail from the side as it dries, and then hold the magnet as close as you can without touching to the widest flattest surface of your nail.

My Julep May 2012 shipment
I'm not saying my manicure skills are the greatest.  This job could definitely use some work with a small brush and some nail polish remover to clean up.  Learning on the job, me. :)

But I wanted you guys to be able to see how nice this Julep collection is. I think it's worth the money.  Here are the photos.

The stitching of the logo is cute. It's faux stitching, but I like.

Pretty useful looking pedi tool.

Useful pockets in the bag, too!

I like both colors a lot! That's the magnet, lower right.

I am at the lower slope of my manicure learning curve. I'll work on it!

Pink Manicure of the Week

I love vivid nails, and since I'm committed to only pink while the Giro d'Italia is on (the Tour of Italy, a bike race like the Tour de France, but in Italy, so even prettier to watch, if that's possible), I'm psyched I found such wonderfully bright colors that harmonize and pink it up together!

Pink nails can be conventional, but this combo is not!

Here is Julep's Portia layered over OPI's La Paz-Itively Hot. I'm holding my new bike-riding sunglasses by Smith in ice blue. I love blue. I love shiny things.

Julep's Portia is a pale cyan blue jelly with small flecks of multi-colored glitter.

From Julep Maven April Box: From Left, Penelope and Portia. See that pretty glitter?

OPI's La Paz-Itively Hot is a hot flamingo pink with a blue-purple irridescence.

The Julep glitter jelly made the blue sheen of the OPI even bluer. Together they make me think of the tropics. Rio as the sun goes down just before Carnival. The hot pink is a great 50s shade, but it gets a little 70s disco gleam with that blue-violet sheen. The glitter takes it up into the stratosphere.

Yay!

What's your favorite pink nail look? Comment and let me know which pink shades you rock.

Casual Friday and New Pink Manicure

Essie Shine of the Times
This limited edition Essie shade was on clearance, so I had to get it. It's an amazingly versatile holographic glitter that is transparent. It reveals the color underneath, but in the light it gleams with a crystalline light that ranges from orange, through gold-yellow, to green. So lovely! This is the second time I've used it for a blog post, but it won't be the last.

Lips: NYX Lipstick in LaLa

Some Fridays you make it through the week by the skin of your teeth, and it's almost done, and you're getting ready, and you just need things to be simple.

This NYX LaLa Lipstick is actually a mauvey brownish nude that gives some nice contrast with my skin and makes my lips stand out. It looks more magenta in this shot than it does in real life.
Eyes and Cheeks from the NYX "butt" naked palette
I used the pink shade all over the lid, and then the fawn shade in the crease. The black shade in the NYX "butt" naked palette works really well as a quick liner with an angled brush like the one found in one of those Real Techniques collections.  These are the foundation of my brush collection. So glad I discovered the Pixiwoos and bought me some of these.
Smashbox Mascara Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black
I don't put mascara on my lower lashes because it's just going to get smeary.  Instead, I apply to the top lashes, then close my eyes for a few seconds and enough of it transfers to the lower ones without smearing.

My Friday outfit, fitting into the skinny jeans, wearing Uggs wedges.
I think I bought everything on top at Target, but who knows?

That black stuff on my index finger is bike crease.
I got a flat on a 50-mile bike ride and had to change my tube.

Essie Shine of the Times over Essie Silk Crepe =
Good N Plenty Pink with gold-green shredded glitter
Essie Silk Crepe
Such a classic pink. Unfortunately, my bottle of this is really old and getting goopy. Does anyone know a way of reviving old and separated nail polishes without losing quality?

Results:

Friday was good, and productive, and on came the weekend, and I biked a whole heckuva lot. So much, that my legs feel like someone elses, and I can feel my abs. I'm inspired by the Giro d'Italia, that already thrilling Italian Bike Race...

Viva Italia!
