30 Day Makeup Challenge: Day 8, Natural Eyes

Today's Challenge look was a natural eye look using my trusty Mehron palette. I used Natural Wheat on the lid. This time I mostly used Toffee in the crease. It's more of a cinnamon color. I also used Cocoa in the crease, and on my brows. Because this was supposed to be natural, I didn't put anything more than Espresso from the Mehron palette on my lash line, along with some Jane Iredale mascara in Black Ice.

Hope you like! Let me know, as always in the comments below!

I avoided shimmer at all because of the theme, but I really prefer it. How about you?

Random Weekly Faces

Here are a few looks from this and last week, including todays simple classic look with a neutral eye, cherry glossy lip and winged out eyeliner.

I used It Bye Bye Under-Eye with Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrée for foundation, a neat trick I learned from Wayne Goss's latest video. Check out Goss Makeup Artist on Youtube for more of his really helpful tips. Bit of a focus problem on these. Sorry. :(

For this eye I used my Tarte We Wish You Wealth palette, and I'm sorry, I don't know the shade names. You can't get this palette anymore, but on the lid it was a pinky shade with a bluish shimmer. Top row left on the lid. Bottom row second from right in crease. Second from top row second from left on tear duct. I love love love this palette, and I'm sorry because you can't get it. Every shadow except the medium and dark brown seems to be a duochrome. So subtle, though. This palette has some really nice glosses in it, too.

My skin is a mess. Stress? Hormones? Who knows. Yeesh.

This is Urban Decay Naked Palette Toasted on top of a whole bunch of matte neutrals from the Pixi Soft Focus Fresh on my lids. I love that bronzey taupey shimmer. This big palette has so many fun pretty neutrals. I love the gloss, and the blushes, too. Here's a picture of it.

Here's another of my faces from this week. Lots of fun neutrals from the Sedona Lace 28 Neutral palette. Kind of a fifties look with the winged liner and rosy cheeks. I love a minky brown shade on the crease like this!

And finally, here's a Burgundy eye look based on Maybelline Color Tattoo Pomegranate Punk. Yay for smokey eyes!

Joe Fresh New Neutrals Palette: Pics and Video with Swatches

A few days ago I was in NYC on business and came upon a Joe Fresh store. This Canadian retailer hasn't made it to L.A. yet, so I had to check it out. I had been seeing their makeup displays on beauty blogs and admired the design.

The clothes are reasonable, and come in lots of bright colors, which look great in the clean white retail space. It's got an early Gap feel, but feels modern and young. I love the rainbow of polo shirts and shorts on white mannequins in the display windows.

I bought me a black tank top with little matte sequins for $24. Score!

And this palette. Ain't it purrty? I love the caramel and chocolate glosses with the bright pinky-coral blush shade. The eye shadows look matte at first but have just a tiny bit of shimmer. I really love the highlighter, which fills a void in my makeup collection. After watching Lisa Eldridge's latest video on face contouring, I'm very excited about what it can do, but I didn't have a nice creamy highlighter like this!

If I was doing a weekend away at the beach, I could see bringing this face palette and very little else.

Here are the rest of my closeups of the palette, and a little video in which I swatch it. Please forgive the poor quality--I was using my iPad to record so that I could edit it in iMovie for iPad and upload it from there. Trying to work out how to travel light and still blog and vlog on my London/Rome trip in August. Traveling light is so important for me or I get very cranky lugging all that stuff around. More on this as the trip gets closer.

What do you think of this palette? What are your bare bones summer beach essentials?

Here's my little YouTube videos.  I have many more videos to edit and post, so please go to YouTube and subscribe to be sure you don't miss them!

Happy Summer!
