30 Day Makeup Challenge: Day 7, Crazy Eyeliner

For this challenge I tried my Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner in Turquoise. I must say, I just love how this looks, especially with some warm-toned blush and lipstick. The felt tip is super easy to control, and unlike some felt tip liners I own, this one is super pigmented and sticky in a good way. Very easy to use. I'd love to try this same look with an emerald green liner.

Here is what I used:

Face:
  • Tarte Maracuja Foundation in Light
  • Maybelline Fit Pressed Powder in Light
Cheeks:
  • Sleek Makeup Face Form in Light - contour, highlighter and blush. The blush is a decent dupe for Nars Orgasm, and it costs half the price but you also get an excellent contour and highlighter. I love Sleek Makeup!

 Eyes:
  • Mehron Natural Wheat on Lid
  • Mehron Cocoa and Espresso in Crease and Outer V
  • Eyeko Skinner Eyeliner in Turquoise
  • Stila Forever Your Curl mascara
  • Anastasia Brow Whiz Pencil in Ash Blonde
Lips:
  • Too Faced Lip Insurance
  • Revlon Just Bitten Balmstain in Rendezvous - just tapped it on
  • Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum - just around the edges and corners of my lips to create some dimension.

Tarte Carried Away Palette First Look!

Thought I'd try out the Tarte Carried Away palette today. The result was a stronger look than any I did this week. I wore this with a bright red blouse and the reddest of the Maracuja glosses that came in the kit.

I put Georgia Peach all over the lid from crease to brow, then did a gradient from inner to outer edge of the lid: Tuscan Sun on the inner third, Coral Reef in the middle third, then Acai Jungle on the outer third, and in the crease, blended up into Georgia Peach on the browbone.

Was a touch disappointed with the pigmentation of the Coral Reef shade. It looked so bright and pretty in the pan, but took some building to get impact on my eye. Maybe it's better wet, or over a base cream like the NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk. Acai Jungle had a bit of green in it, which was a surprise, and it made for a more strong, makeup artisty type look. I think that Acai Jungle has a color shift from brownish burgundy to deep forest green. Definitely psyched to try more of these quads, so thanks to my sister Mary for getting me this awesome kit!

What do you think?

The rest of the products were pretty much the same things I used on the rest of the looks this week. The Tarte Maracuja foundation in light is still shockingly yellow to me, but just a touch of my skin79 BB cream lightens it enough to match my skin better.

Didn't have time to do my brows. Eek! My bangs hid it, mostly.

The Maracuja red gloss wore off within an hour, so I put on my new L'Oréal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Endless Red. Have you tried these yet? I really like these! They go on wet, and once they set, they feel kind of like gelatin, lots of staying power, but they feel emollient. I think there's some alcohol in there, which evaporates and leaves that long-wearing soft slick feeling stuff. Once even that wears away, there's a stain left on your lips. Really interesting product, not like anything I've tried. Go check them out! I have the Lilac one, the Caramel one, the Red, and the the Coral.

Video: July Birchbox Opening

Of all my beauty sample subscriptions, I think Birchbox most consistently gets it right. This month's box is no exception with its 5 senses theme. As Pink Sith points out, not all of the products fully connects with those five senses, but I love that they have a theme and stick to it. I love the design and their sense of color. This one was a partnership with Glamour magazine.

What You Get

amika Obliphica Nourishing Mask and Hair treatment: I used the oil up right away because it smelled so good and because it was in a non-resealable pouch. Haven't used the hair mask yet. What the heck is Obliphica?

boscia BB cream: Haven't tried this, but if it's as good as the rest of their products I'll be happy. I love BB creams, but I've been sticking to the original Korean ones, with the exception of the Dr. Brandt sample with Flexitone, which I very much enjoy.

Eyeko skinny liquid liner: This turquoisey teal shade is very exciting, and this sample is more like a full sized product. It really stays on! Now I just have to feel bold enough to wear it. I think I'll be wearing this with a black liquid liner to anchor it. Love it! Love that I get to try this British brand before I get to London. Score!

Harvey Prince Hello Fragrance: This has bright top notes of citrus, a middle of plumeria, and something a touch musky on the bottom. If it had some woodnotes it would be everything I love in a fragrance. Great choice for summer!

Larabar uber bar in Bananas Foster: I've gotten Larabar products at many of the races I do, and I'm not gonna lie - they taste a bit like sawdust. This one is no exception. I stick to Clif bars. Maybe I don't get as much fiber, but then, I don't feel as if I'm eating wall compound, either.

Birchbox Exclusive Headphones: Great idea, adorable blue and pink color, but the sound quality is a bit flat and tinny. A for effort.
