For this challenge I tried my Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner in Turquoise. I must say, I just love how this looks, especially with some warm-toned blush and lipstick. The felt tip is super easy to control, and unlike some felt tip liners I own, this one is super pigmented and sticky in a good way. Very easy to use. I'd love to try this same look with an emerald green liner.

Sleek Makeup Face Form in Light - contour, highlighter and blush. The blush is a decent dupe for Nars Orgasm, and it costs half the price but you also get an excellent contour and highlighter. I love Sleek Makeup!

When I bought these, the check-out woman was all, "I just put these out!" So go get 'em. I have a feeling they won't last long in the stores. I can't wait to try that Pat McGrath butterfly eye look with these on Halloween!

Since I bought this, I tried the burgundy shade bottom right as a base, and over Urban Decay primer potion. It has some subtle golden glitter in there, and the burgundy shade is gorgeous with my green eyes. Believe it or not, it did crease, even with the UDPP, just a tiny bit. I still like this thing and want to test out the rest of the shades. Creasing is bad, tho, especially on my hooded lids!

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie
Here's what I love about the Revlon lip butters:
They are soft like a balm, but they seem to last a lot longer on my lips: 2-3 hours, which is a long time for me!
Their colors have dimension, with some interesting shimmer with subtle yet unusual colors (green? gray? blue? look closely at some of these and see if I'm not crazy) That shine and borderline duochrome helps round out the shape of your lips, just as a duochrome shade on your eyes will make your lids look nice and rounded. I have thin lips, so I need this!
The packaging is yummy looking.
They are way cheaper than the Clinique lippies for which they are clearly a dupe.
Even though they come in a wide variety of shades, from brights to neutrals, each one is a bit sheer, so they all work quite well for day and office.
This one is very much a YLBB, aka, a "Your Lips But Better" shade
I love to wear bright lips, but on most days, a nice neutral pink that gives your lips just a bit of pop is a wiser way to go. This shade is perfect for that!
You can see the soft, satiny sheen here, and the subtlety of the shade.

Random stuff:
I just tried stand up paddle boarding through a Groupon I got for http://www.gosurfla.com/. So much fun! Our teacher Ethan was supercool, and gave us all we needed to know to get up, including a nice firm push through the surf to get out beyond the break. Feels like walking on water, not to blaspheme or anything. If you've always wanted to try it, do! Us women have a nice low center of gravity, which gives us an advantage in most board sports. Try it and see if I'm wrong.
I got Rosetta Stone French, all 5 levels, for my birthday, and I love this program! If you want to learn another language, this is the way to go. Pleasantly addictive and motivating with lots of helpful lessons and live online real time classes! What an amazing deal! Je l'aime!
If you're like me and you watch tons of beauty YouTube gurus, you know the expression "I absolutely love it!" is one everybody says a lot. I have caught myself using it quite a bit, too. Maybe us beauty fans should come up with a YouTube Beauty drinking game? That phrase would definitely be a cue to drink!
I've been in a purple or blue eye makeup rut for just days, and today I came up with something that I was really proud of:
I broke out that Crown Brush palette, and used a bunch of the pale lemon yellow shades layered over each other on my whole lid.
I then did some aqua green on the outer third of the eyelid
I used a deeper blue aqua in the crease and along the lash line
Then used some Cinema Secrets liner fix fluid with olive green with gold shimmer to make one pass of liner along the lashes
Then finally I used my Smashbox metallic liner palette and worked not with the black or navy shade, but with the fawn brown.
The color palette is kind of 60s retro. Damn, that Madmen just enters your dreams and changes your whole aesthetic, doesn't it?
Finished off the look with Revlon Colorstay Lip Butter in Pink Truffle, which is a great shade for my skin tone, doesn't blend into my skin like a lot of nude shades do, and yet is neutral enough not to fight with all the pastel color on my lids.

You can see how the Urban Decay Primer Potion gets kind of scaley on me. Not the prettiest look.And the liner has gone into the wrinkles a bit. But you gotta love that aqua at the outer edges.

Would you wear this aqua, because, wow, do I love it!
Do you think that you absorb color palettes when you are a baby? If so, that must be why I love shades from the mid-to-late 60s.
Or maybe I love that aqua because it's the color of Bermuda water over the sand at about a depth that would put you chest-high in it, in all that warm silky ocean. Ahhh. Summertime.

My skin undertown is neutral--pink cheeks, warmish tones in the skin, so I can use both warm and cool colors on my face.
My Outfit: Target Pencil Skirt, Save the Queen Shirt bought in Positano, Italy, Violet Scarf, Sandals with a black denim ankle detail. Can I go back to Italy? How about right now, please! And here's why you turn off that flash when using a mirror! Doh!
My Unii Cosmetics palettes are so awesome! I love being able to put exactly the pans I want into the palette and the mirror is so big. Very useful. As you can see in the top pic, I've put a variety into this turquoise one. The bright yellow is the only one that couldn't be called a neutral.
But such a variety of neutrals! I bought the Revlon Siren palette because I loved the way each gray varied not only in value (darkness or lightness) but warm or cool. The lightest gray has a touch of green-blue. The next darker shade has subtle red and green shimmer (crazy, right, but look at that first picture and see if I'm wrong). The next darker one has lots of lavender.
For this eye I used the Lancome rose gold on the lid to the crease, and then put that medium gray with the lavender shimmer into the crease, and finished it off with the Sephora white from the blue trio. This white has a smattering of bright tiny white glitter in there, above the very soft pearly multicolored shimmery white. It's not quite what you expect, and I love that!
Lips: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart, neutralized by Pink Truffle. A warm pink balanced out by a cool brown-based pink.
NYX "butt" naked palette cheeks. I know, I use this like every day when I'm doing the makeup at home. But I do that because it's awesome!!! This is my favorite contour, bar none. It's a perfect shade.
Results:
Using warm and cool neutrals on eyes adds a bit of interest, and gives you another way to make things project or recede. Warm pops forward, and cool recedes. Thus endeth the art lesson. But seriously, if you've taken basic art class, the knowledge really does translate very well into makeup!
Mixing two lipsticks is a great thing to do to fine tune your lip. Here I was going for pink, but I wanted the lip to balance the eye, not upstage it, as I would if I was going for one of those Mad Men looks I did a few weeks back with the Revlon classic shades. Sweet Tart is a pretty bright shade. Pink Truffle was too subtle. Together, they were just right! So mixing warm and cool on the lips can get you just where you want to be.

I'm testing out this Laura Mercier Water. It's supposed to moisturize your skin and make it absorb the active ingredients in your other beauty products. I like the way it feels and smells. It does feel like it's doing something.
Too Faced Lip Insurance - I really don't think this is doing all I'd like it to. Maybe I need to try one of those clear lip pencils Pursebuzz is talking about in her Ombre Lips tutorial....
Thought I'd swap in the Aveda Tinted Moisturizer for the BB Creams. It really is moisturizing. I like it.
Still need more concealer in those purple hollows next to my nose, or maybe I need something more yellow for that bit, especially when I'm wearing purple shadows in my eyelids.
Hey, today I tested out my new Smashbox products, or two of them, the mascara, which rocked, and the lippie recommended by Sam of the Pixiwoos. Reviews to come tomorrow!!!

Tutti Frutti Lips over OCC Hush Lip Tar. Pretty darned long-lasting!
It was a warm Friday morning here in L.A. so I wore my Target tan sundress with the swirls of hot orange and brown. A neutral eye and an easy bright lip pulled the color scheme together. Happy Friday!

Get this palette!
I used an angled brush to apply the black shade around my eyes, and I love the way it looked. This palette's black is so pigmented, and it blends like a dream. No need for eyeliner. Softened the whole thing with a fluffy brush, and voila. I love me some bright colors, but I need to remember, on my eyes, neutral is nice!

NYX Butt Naked Palette - see image for details on which colors. Basically it's a neutral eye with some definition in the crease with a medium brown shade, and some nice soft black around the rim of the eyes and tight lined. This black shadow even works and lasts when you tight line with it. Awesome, I say!

Embarrassed to say all day I thought I was wearing Tutti Frutti, because I love that color, but what I grabbed was Candy Apple, which worked really well over the OCC Hush color. Hmmm. Time to get my eyes checked, I guess!
Got to figure out what product is making that white mottled look on my skin. Probably, it's the BB cream because it has so strong an SPF, or so it says. Worried about this, because I have a whole bottle of this stuff still to use, and I need me some SPF. I am pale, baby!

Who says mature faces shouldn't try fun eye shadow colors like Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Tenacious Teal?
After going to the LA Makeup Show, and picking up a free copy of ON MAKEUP MAGAZINE, I was inspired to try Tenacious Teal all around my eyes. I have mostly green eyes that can look blue, gray or hazel in different lights, and I liked the way one model in the magazine looked with turquoise all around her eyes. I found I needed to neutralize the shadow a bit with some soft taupey colors from my NYX Nude on Nude palette to tone it down for work. Here's what I used:

Urban Decay Primer Potion (I realize I may not have needed this with the Color Tattoo formulation, but my eyelids are extra oily, and at this point, it's just what I always use)
Selma Hayak brow pencil in Medium Blonde. This is a bit darker than my Anastasia pencil and I thought I might need more definition on my brows
Around upper and lower lash line: Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo cream shadow in Tenacious Teal applied with flat liner brush, two layers on top and just a bit connecting the lower lash line with the outer corners
Powder shadow matching Tenacious Teal from my gigundo Crown Brush palette that has every single shade of the rainbow. Love this! Makes me feel like an artist as I fumble around in my bathroom.
Taupe shade and gray blue shade from NYX Nude on Nude Palette at outer edges of upper lid. Also over a lighter cream shade all over lids, and into the crease in a V-shape connecting outer crease and outer edge of eyelids.
Tightline with Loreal HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in black 905. Where have these gone from my CVS? I really like this cream eyeliner and wanted to get it in a navy, brown and eggplant color, too. Hmmm. So I tightline above and below my upper lash line with a very flat chisel brush from Bare Escentuals--now one of my favorite tools.
Blend all on lids with Beauty Blender to tone town blue a bit...it is daytime, after all. Even though I do love a bit of drama at all times!

Tested out my new La Femme blush in Precious Plum, which is kind of a cool shade for my golden toned skin, so I needed a bit extra.
Contoured with Aveda Petal Essence bronzer in 165 Bronze Glow beneath cheekbones and all around perimeter of face. This one is so easy to blend and layer!
Lips:
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait and toned down with Sugar Frosting. I love the way you can fine tune your lip color by blending these babies together. I keep thinking about more colors I need to own of these. Addictive!!!
